Straighten up the Bow Tie

2014 has already been an immense year for the automotive world. Supercars have made their mark, affordability has become a major player for automakers and fuel economy reigns supreme. In light of these changes, there has been one automaker that has stepped their game up. I’ve never been much of an American car guy, but Chevrolet has recently engineered vehicles that have placed the company in a higher standard.

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has caused enormous waves in a very short period of time. It’s been compared to some of Europe’s finest and came on top. Within the U.S. itself, it represents the first attempt to switch to a higher standard of vehicles. A newly redesigned interior has set the standard for other American automakers. It is undoubtedly one of the best vehicles for your money. It was also named the North American Car of 2014.

Chevrolet has showed us that they can build an amazing sports car. But what about other vehicles? At the 2013 North American International Auto Show, Chevrolet was also awarded the North American Truck of the Year for the Chevrolet Silverado. There you have it. Chevrolet can also build great trucks.

But wait. There is also the territory that Chevrolet so bravely dipped their feet into with the Volt. It was America’s answer to the Nissan Leaf and now stands as one of Tesla’s main competitors. To accommodate for a greater part of the population, they have introduced the Chevrolet Spark.

The Spark is a fully electric vehicle that obtains a combined mile per gallon figure of 119 and has a range of 82 miles. At $26,685, the Spark has created a niche for cheap, electric vehicles. It’s $10,000 cheaper than the Chevrolet Volt and achieves better fuel economy. It’s the perfect entry-level electric vehicle for people around town.

Chevrolet has made some very impressive strides in 2014. They’ve built an incredible sports car, a triumphant truck, and an all-electric vehicle. Keeping in the original bowtie style, their cars have led the way for an American overhaul. Here’s to hoping they keep up the good work. Pay attention Europe, the U.S. has brought their A-game.
